Meyers Gives Princeton His Word
So, remember that post last week that speculated Jonathan Meyers would take his ball — and stick — to Princeton, turning down a chance to block and catch passes for Tim Tebow at Florida?Bingo — Damian Andrew of News 12 Connecticut did the digging, and last night he reported that the blue chip recruit is heading to New Jersey. The story is not on the News 12 site, but if you are a Cablevision subscriber, I'm sure you can turn in tonight and see it again. Or check channel 612 for the replay.
Congratulations to Meyers not only on his decision, but for carving a track that no one in the media was able to follow. The decision wasn't simple, I'm sure — you have a chance to play for a national title in football in packed stadiums in football-hungry Florida week in and week out, and you have a chance to win a national championship in lacrosse with Princeton while also making an impact with the Tigers.
And once the college athletic career is over, what's left? A solid education. Yes, the FCIAC has been fortunate enough to see the likes of Idris Price make his way to the Arena Football League (and back home with the New York Dragons), but a pro career come a dime a dozen and as Price would say, it takes a lot of "Har' Work!"
Fortunately the people on the Florida football message boards are taking the news well. They understand the shot at a fantastic education this kid has.

Hey Tim, I think it is an awesome decision for Meyers to be choosing Princeton. At Florida, he probably would not play all that much, wouldn't get as good an education, but would have a lot of fun. At Princeton, he is going to contribute both on the football field and lacrosse field right away, get a great education, and still have a good time.
Also I heard that Matt White, from Ridgefield, has committed to UVA to play lacrosse. Not sure if its true because I know he is just a junior but if so these two would be battling it out on the lacrosse field in college.

Good for Matt White if he has committed to UVA! It can happen - colleges are recruiting them younger and younger these days.
