First it was the FCIAC Football Five. And last year, it became The Big 3.

But for 2008 and beyond, the media poll associated with the FCIAC Football Blog will be dedicated to the memory of late News12 Connecticut sports anchor Bill Gonillo.

The Bill Gonillo 5 is a weekly poll conducted by the FCIAC Football Blog and voted on by sports media members who cover teams and leagues based in Fairfield County. Updated results are announced every Monday during the football season.

Defending Class LL and FCIAC champion Greenwich topped the FCIAC-only poll last season. High school teams eligible for the weekly honor include all FCIAC and South-West Conference teams, plus SCC teams Shelton and Fairfield Prep, Constitution State programs Bullard-Havens and Wright Tech/Stamford Academy, and Fairchester Athletic Association schools Brunswick, King, and St. Luke’s.
