Newtown-Brookfield: Who You Got?
November 19, 2008 in Uncategorized Posts by timparry
Anyone think the SWC championship game is going to be a one-sided affair, based on Newtown’s 34-3 win against Brookfield two weeks back?
Yes, Newtown put Brookfield on the ropes early on, and from what I was told Brookfield had very little to offer in the second half of that game.
As advanced as scouting has become in high school football, I have a feeling Brookfield head coach Rich Angarano and his staff played a very conservative game in the second half. We talked with Newtown Bee sports editor Andy Hutchison on FCIAC Football Blog Live the next day, and he acknowledged that Brookfield’s starters remained in the game.
Later this week – once I get on my regular laptop at home – I’ll extract those two clips for your podcasting pleasure.
But let’s not take anything away from Newtown. They are 9-1 for a reason, and came close to a Week 1 win over Shelton. Maybe they are prime for a repeat against Brookfield?
What do you think?

I think Newtown wins again. They will be sky high getting ready for masuk next wednesday night. if they win that one, they a clinch a spot in LL. If they lose and New Britain beats Glastonbury and Chesire beats Southington, Newtown could be left out. ALl 3 of those games are 7pm next wednesday night so they won’t know any scenarios until after they play.
