Want to sponsor posts? Contact Tim Parry for rates.

Here’s your chance… You can nominate players for the BlueStreak Sports Training OFFENSIVE and DEFENSIVE Players of the Year.

Here are the ZERO TOLERANCE rules if you want to leave a comment:
  • No hating: Constructive criticism is fine (example: "I think the team should have punted on fourth down."). Being mean-spirited is not acceptable. If a player wins an award, don't disrespect the accomplishment. If a team wins, be gracious about the win and humble in defeat.
  • No homophobic slurs: If you don't know what a homophobic slur is, then Google it.
  • No racial slurs
  • No derogatory slurs
  • Nothing libelous or slanderous (example: "The coach stole money from the booster club." or "The player is moving back to Texas after the game." or "The poll is rigged.") If you have no proof, don't jeopardize the integrity of the blog.

I nominate Russel Baldino the nose guard for Trumbull. He dominated O- lines and made the interior 3 account for him every play. An absolutly dominating preformance all year. If Trumbull posted its stats it would show that Baldino is one of the sack leaders in the state.

  2. brosef Says:

Cortese has to got get considerable attention. He put up ridiculous numbers for a Trinity team that defenses only focused on him. 2000 yards on the ground? Come on, he carried that team. Chris Hines from Norwalk has also got to get some votes, putting up ridiculous numbers on the ground as well. Nate Quinn also had a great year for the Rams.

  3. ramd-fense Says:

Brosef, Cortese is a great player but if anyone got as many carries as this kid, they could get just as many if not more yards.
If they were to pick Silas Redd and even though King doesnt play the same calibur teams as Trinity, having 10 carries for over 300 yards and 4 TD’s is unbelievable.
Also, Nate Quinn is a great consideration. He has led a team that many thought would start the season 0-2 to being undefeated FCIAC champs and are in the state championship is quite a feat.

  4. brosef Says:

Good point, Cortese did have a ridiculous amount of carries. But do you think many other guys could withstand all those? He is a work horse, that is a lot of abuse he must have taken, and didn’t really have the greatest line to work with either.

  5. read8834 Says:

Offense: I have to give the nod to Cortese on stats alone. I think Redd is a great pick for next year and is a better player overall, as is Pierre Louis. However, Cortese went out and did it, every week, gotta respect that.

Defense: Pierre Louis hands down. 160 tackles, several takeaways and several sacks. An angry animal on the field and a great kid off. He also ran for over 100 yards. Fortt and Arndt also deserve consideration as well are Dirubio (sp).

  6. read8834 Says:

Buy the way guys you have to click HERE above to formally/properly nominate someone.

  7. read8834 Says:

Sorry Pierre-Louis ran for over 1000 yards.

  8. bigworm23 Says:

how about richie edwards from Trumbull? wow this kid is impressive. I went to two Trumbull games this year against Danbury and against St. Joes’s. Wow. How does this kid not get any nominations?

  9. read8834 Says:

What position does Edwards play. I don’t follow Trumbull very well.

  10. bigworm23 Says:

    RB, WR, CB, PR, KR

  11. Big Time Says:

Guys give me some feed back on Edwards. I think hes the most talented player in our area. I want to know what Tim Parry thinks of Richie Edwards aka “The Truth”. He made St. Joes look like a Pop Warner team….

  12. bigworm23 Says:

Read, Big Time, – not sure if you guys got to see him play that much but I am from the Danbury area and my cousin told me I had to go watch this kid play. My cousin went to go get a hotdog when Danbury went to punt in the second half, Edwards returned a punt 80 yards ducking, spinning, and running around would be tacklers! I then came down to McDougall Stadium in Trumbull to see them play St. Joseph’s high school, also in Trumbull. If you guys didn’t see the game, then asked St. Joseph’s what they thought. He looked like Reggie Bush against a jv football team. I know he won mvp and I think they ended up winning 45-7 or 47-7 something like that.

  13. ramd-fense Says:

wait, how many yards did richie edwards have against Nick Dirubio and the New Canaan Defense???

  14. bigworm23 Says:

    Who is Nick Dirubio?

  15. hw Says:

where is Brian Kosnik in the offensive player of the year. Nearly 1000 yards receiving and 10+ tds.

  16. ramd-fense Says:

hw, if Kosnik was to be considered, dont you think that they would put Kurt Ondash ahead of him with almost 200 more recieving yards and 6 more touchdowns, as well as kicking 45 PAT’s as well.

  17. ReadyToRumble Says:

Bigworm, Big Time, Can’t figure out why Edwards seem’s to fly under the radar.
Seems the voting has closed, I’d put a nom in for him if I’d known. The kid is versatile, he’s an athlete, he can play a few positions. I’m from Fairfield, I watched him play two games, one was Ludlowe. In our weekly paper that week after the game the Ludlowe coaches said quote: The Trumbull-Ludlowe game quickly became the Richie Edwards show”. I’ll vouch for that. We watched this kid in awe. He’s got a good arm too, he threw a bomb touchdown pass in that game. As for the Thanksgiving game against St. Joe’s, well Big Time said it best, he made St. Joe’s look like Pop Warner.

  18. bigdubbs Says:

nick dirubio might as well be your father big worm

  19. bigdubbs Says:

and if he doesnt get nominated then that is just bs. The rams offense has overshadowed his play all yr. Are we forgetting they had the best defense in the state and he was the best player on the defense. Without dirubio there would be a huge hole in the rams d and tim parry knows that…they wouldnt have come close to winning fciac and state without him and not to mention his boy sciaretta without those two italian goons where would new canaan be in this world…no where.
