Casey Cochran Transfers to Masuk
July 21, 2009 in Masuk by timparry

Get ready for a three-ring media circus to descend upon Monroe.
Casey Cochran, who as a freshman led New London to a Class SS championship win over Seymour, has transferred to Masuk.
In a way, that’s a story in itself. Masuk is the defending Class L champion, quarterback Bobby Baker graduated, and now there could be – potentially – three years of this Cochran kid under center (or in a shotgun).
But what makes it a bigger story: His father is Jack Cochran, the recently-fired New London head coach.
And of course because Jack Cochran is who he is, this suddenly becomes a huge story. One that potentially could have the paparazzi floating around Masuk. We could soon see reporters dressed in disguise trying to find out if Jack Cochran is suddenly on John Murphy’s staff, or if a storm is brewing in the Panthers locker room.
Right now, it is what it is: Casey Cochran will play football for Masuk. He has the right as someone who legally lives in Monroe, and has a GPA high enough to participate in athletics.
And Jack Cochran has the right to watch his son play football.
Let’s just hope the media lets that happen.
