are there any rules for the nomination about a kid not playing in the fciac? could a kid from teh FAA or playing a non league game get nominated, like craft for example

Yeah, but comparing how Turner Baty did in Week 2 (or was it Week 3?) of the season doesn’t equate.

As stated above, the judges were impressed that Burke took the game over when Staples needed to step up. And if we had any video (actually, I do have some video), prophet would see he took the game over.

Having said that, Baty had an unbelievable game. But I think the Ludlowe run defense is better than the Wilton pass defense. Now Baty hits the receivers, but the receivers also get some fantastic yards after the catch. And Baty had changed the dynamic of the team.

If I was to award an MVP for the state right now, It’d be Baty.

Prophet was “flabbergasted” that Turner Baty’s stats in week 7 didn’t measure up to the other player’s stats…that “someone made a mistake”. Prophet suggests that Turner Baty’s Wilton performance excelled above all others. How do you truly make a fair comparison as to whose performance that week was the most deserving of the recognition without taking into consideration the opponent? The winner that week played against Ludlowe…NC played Ludlowe a few weeks prior, which starts to provide some basis for comparison for which individual performance in week 7 was most deserving of FCIAC player of the week. NC beat Ludlowe 35-19 and Staples beat Ludlow 38-0…and like NC, they didn’t play their starters the full 4 quarters either. Just trying to give the old prophet something to consider before making statements like “someone made a mistake”…has to be some basis for comparison as only one guy gets the award. Thanks for your blog…it’s great for FCIAC football.

No, because I’m sure he was at the New Canaan-Wilton game if he’s standing up for New Canaan. But I don’t understand your argument, or maybe I’m just not following you. Player of the Week Award is based on what you do that week, not what you do against Ludlowe.

FCIACFOOTBALLORG, what does Turner Baty’s stats against Ludlowe have to do with anything? In that game, Baty split time with Willie Ouelette over the first three quarters.

Upon further review…Senior QB Turner Baty’s stats against Ludlowe were 9-12 for 113 yds and 1 passing TD, rushing for 2 yds. Junior RB Ryan Burke’s stats posted on MaxPreps against Ludlowe were actually 10 carries for 184 rushing yards with 3 TD’s, and another 50 all purpose yards for kick and punt returns totaling 234 yards. And he did it on Staple’s first game back without starting QB, Brandon Pacilio out for the season after breaking his ankle the week prior. I’m flabbergasted your flabbergasted! Good luck Turner with Greenwich, look forward to watching.

Prophet, don’t be so flabbergasted…Turner had a great game for sure, but against Wilton, an opponent with only 2 victories this season. We will all be rooting for Turner against a more challenging opponent this Friday night against Greenwich. Looking forward to comparing his remarkable stats against Wilton Vs his stats against the Cardinals. Staples beat Ludlowe by the way 38-0, while NC beat Ludlowe 35-19. Ryan Burke’s accomplishments against Ludlowe (163 Yds and 3 TDs) were more impressive than Turner’s. Have to put it all into perspective when recognizing a player of the week. Also Staples happens to play Wilton this Saturday…this is why we love High School football.

fciacfootball fan, you handled this much better than prophet did. You said Craft deserved recognition, while prophet came across as a basher of Ryan Burke.
