Wow – I was 10-0 last week. Not many competitive games on the schedule. It also brought me to 49-19 on the season, but the road gets much tougher in Week 8. Here’s my picks for the Friday games, Saturday picks will be posted tomorrow.

Fairfield Warde at Stamford: Stamford started turning things around with Khairi Fortt back in the lineup, but hit the brick wall known as Bridgeport Central last week. It will be interesting to see if they can come back and defeat a struggling Warde team which has won just one of its last four games. Fortt and linebacker Pat Atkinson give Stamford an edge on defense, but I think Tom McNamara and the Warde defense should shut down Stamford. Warde gets the road win.

Ridgefield at Trumbull: How important is this game? It’s not just about two teams hoping to get back into the FCIAC and Class LL playoff pictures, but about tiebreaker points for Greenwich and Central, should both teams win in Week 8. Ridgefield is back on a roll, but has been criticized for its strength of schedule. Trumbull got back in the win column after a two game slide, and wants to show it was a fluke. I’m going to give this one to Matthew Hajducky, Alex Roque and the Trumbull defense.

Bridgeport Central at Brien McMahon: I think Central will use this as a tune-up for its big Week 9 clash against New Canaan. Central wins.

New Canaan at Greenwich: Want my take on this one? Take a road trip to The Road to Boyle.

Here are the ZERO TOLERANCE rules if you want to leave a comment:
  • No hating: Constructive criticism is fine (example: "I think the team should have punted on fourth down."). Being mean-spirited is not acceptable. If a player wins an award, don't disrespect the accomplishment. If a team wins, be gracious about the win and humble in defeat.
  • No homophobic slurs: If you don't know what a homophobic slur is, then Google it.
  • No racial slurs
  • No derogatory slurs
  • Nothing libelous or slanderous (example: "The coach stole money from the booster club." or "The player is moving back to Texas after the game." or "The poll is rigged.") If you have no proof, don't jeopardize the integrity of the blog.
