The CIAC football season will include a handful of Thursday night opening games for FCIAC. That’s because Yom Kippur begins on Friday, Sept. 17, at sundown.

On Sept. 16, Wilton travels to Trumbull for a 6 p.m. game. McMahon visits Danbury and Stamford travels to Ridgefield for 7 p.m. starts, and the time for the Greenwich game at Norwalk has not been set.

The schedule on the CIAC Website is not complete though: According to that, Central at Ludlowe, Harding at Westhill, New Canaan at Bassick and Trinity Catholic at Staples are all being held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, and those games are likely to be moved to Thursday night or Friday before sundown.

Bye-weeks also do not appear to be filled in on the master schedule. For example, New Canaan has a bye the weekend of Oct. 16, the week it played Seymour last season. However, Seymour’s schedule indicates a road trip to New Canaan the night of Oct. 15.

Other non-league games that appear of individual team schedules include:

  • McMahon at Capital Prep, Nov. 19
  • Red Lion Christian Academy of Delaware at Darien, Oct. 23
  • Ridgefield at Wilbur Cross, Oct. 9
  • Trinity Catholic at North Haven, Oct. 29
  • Wilton at New London, Oct. 1
