A New Harding High Coming Soon?
April 4, 2010 in Harding by timparry
Connecticut Post reports that a plan to build a new Warren Harding High School has made its way to Bridgeport mayor Bill Finch’s desk. When it will be built, and where, has yet to be determined, but it’s desperately needed.
To put the age of dilapidated Harding into perspective, it was new when my parents, graduates of the school, were born. They are now in their 80s. Check out the user-generated images with the Post’s article and you’ll see how badly it’s falling apart.
But where can a new Harding be built? The Harding property is literally the school building and Hedges Field. There are some brownfields in the east end of Bridgeport, there are some areas that can be taken as eminent domain, maybe the city can get a deal on property owned by General Electric or Remington Arms.
Once that problem is figured out, look for a Harding rebirth both on and off the field.
