Yes, I know I previously announced that the FCIAC Football Blog is for sale, but who knows if or when that goal will come? In the meantime, I’m strapped for cash. I’m not going to kid you about that. But I’m too proud to beg for money, and in the meantime, I have a vehicle that is designed to generate some revenue.

The problem is, I can’t do it on my own. I work a full-time job, and I’m committed to a 50-hour workweek. But if you’re interested – or know anyone who is interested – in selling ads on commission, I’m all ears. Here’s the information.

I’m not looking to make millions here. I just want to make back what I invested (even though when you consider the time commitment over the past five years, it really could be millions!).

Though I should quote Robbie Hart from The Wedding Singer: “Don’t wanna live in my sister’s basement anymore. I wanna get a big house, have some security. Can’t do that doin’ favors for people all the time, gettin’ paid in meatballs.”

Now, I have to warn any prospective salespeople: My ad rates are pretty inexpensive. On the positive side, they are pretty much priced to sell, so if you hustle, you can make yourself a few bucks.

So if you are interested in selling, or if you own a business and want to advertise on the blog, drop me a note at tim@fciacfootballblog.com.

Spring football has begun at Bridgeport Central (according to the buzz on Facebook). But for the second straight year, the CIAC is allowing schools to skip the tradition and start fall practice five days earlier in August.

Here’s a list of who is participating and who is not.

I’m a fan of spring football, as a former player who got some work in because a lot of his teammates were still playing baseball and lacrosse and therefore were’ allowed to put the pads on yet. I think it gives some players a chance to work with the first or second teams who may not get that chance in the fall.

But I can understand why coaches would elect the five additional days in August. By then you know you have your entire team together and ready to work as one unit.

I just hope I get a chance to catch a practice or intersquad scrimmage this spring. It’s a busy time at the day job, and that includes a bit of travel the next few weeks.

What’s your take? Do you prefer spring football, or do you wish your school was taking the spring off?

I am looking to sell the FCIAC Football Blog. My wife and I are having a baby boy in September, and being a father to William Raymond Parry is my number-one priority. It’s the most-important thing in my life.

If you knew how many hours a week I dealt with aggravation from forces that are out of my control, you’d understand. If you knew how helpless I’ve felt to not be able to generate revenue from this project (yeah, having a full-time career gets in the way of selling ad space), you’d understand. If you knew the frustration of using the site to raise money and awareness for charity and then seeing zero dollars raised (see “Player of the Year voting,”) you’d definitely understand. If you saw how quiet the coaching community was when I sent them an e-mail about the recent relaunch, you’d especially understand.

But I don’t want to throw anyone under the bus for my own inability to turn this into the best Website it could be (I’ll take the high road like my friend Rob Adams and throw out a “Rule 55″).

Based on page visitors, the number of registered users, the in-season interest, this site has the potential to be a goldmine. Hopefully someone will see that value and help me support my family.

Despite everything going on outside my control, this site has had a great five-season run. I’d told a few people of my decision to sell (or shut down), and they understand. But they are also proud of what I’ve done to change the way high school football is covered in Fairfield County – even the State of Connecticut.

The FCIAC Football Blog led the online revolution, and everyone scrambled to keep the pace.

Hopefully someone will pick up this ball of gold and run with it. If you’re interested, e-mail me at tim@fciacfootballblog.com.

I put up the infrastructure, now I just need you to come back.

Buddypress and bbPress have been activated, as has a new template that supports the changes. If you’ve ever registered with the FCIAC Football Blog, then your login works here. You can create and join groups, start up your own conversation on the forums and (though it’s not working yet for IE users) you can connect to the Blog using Facebook. And what do you know… Commenting has been turned back on (just stay classy, people!).

Let this be your high school football playground. Sure, I own the URL and pay for the hosting and make zero dollars off this thing. But in reality, the site is all about the players and the fans.

Come surf around. There’s still a few kinks to work out, and you can let me know if something’s just not working.

That’s because Yom Kippur begins on Friday, Sept. 17, at sundown.

On Sept. 16, Wilton travels to Trumbull for a 6 p.m. game. McMahon visits Danbury and Stamford travels to Ridgefield for 7 p.m. starts, and the time for the Greenwich game at Norwalk has not been set.

The schedule on the CIAC Website is not complete though: According to that, Central at Ludlowe, Harding at Westhill, New Canaan at Bassick and Trinity Catholic at Staples are all being held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, and those games are likely to be moved to Thursday night or Friday before sundown.

Bye-weeks also do not appear to be filled in on the master schedule. For example, New Canaan has a bye the weekend of Oct. 16, the week it played Seymour last season. However, Seymour’s schedule indicates a road trip to New Canaan the night of Oct. 15.

Other non-league games that appear of individual team schedules include:

McMahon at Capital Prep, Nov. 19

Red Lion Christian Academy of Delaware at Darien, Oct. 23

Ridgefield at Wilbur Cross, Oct. 9

Trinity Catholic at North Haven, Oct. 29

Wilton at New London, Oct. 1
