Who is Your Week 5 Player of the Week Candidate?

Who is Your Week 5 Player of the Week Candidate?

So who’s it going to be this week? Of course if you’re a fan of the FCIAC Football Blog on Facebook, you can go ahead and nominate a candidate for the award, which is sponsored by BlueStreak Sports Training and presented by the FCIAC Football Blog.

My guess is there had to be a candidate coming in from the Trumbull defense. After all, the Eagles shut down a Central offense that had previously averaged 47 points per game.

Or will the performance come from someone on offense who didn’t score a point? New Canaan wide receiver Cody Newton had six grabs for 164 yards, including catch-and-runs of 55 and 56 yards, against Warde.

Maybe it’s Graham Maybell of Darien, who was a force on both sides of the ball with two rushing touchdowns and three interceptions against Wilton.

Or the Player of the Week may come from outside the FCIAC: Pomperaug running back Ben Crick had six carried for 116 yards, a 75-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, and threw a 33-yard touchdown pass against Bunnell.

Or maybe a player who has been a finalist each of the first three weeks will finally get the hardware: Greenwich quarterback Mike Lefflbine passed for three scores and ran for two more Friday at Danbury.

How about your two cents? Who deserves to be the Player of the Week?

Player of the Week: Who Would YOU Choose?

Player of the Week: Who Would YOU Choose?

Week One is just about in the books. So now we need a BlueStreak Sports Training Player of the Week.

Tyler Matakevich of St. Joseph was an unstoppable force in his team’s 37-0 win over Crosby. Ian Ratchford had a great night passing and running for Danbury. Christon Gill was a one-man wrecking crew for Central against Ludlowe. And Silas Redd… he was Silas Redd, with 262 rushing yards on 10 carries.

Now the players on the honor roll are nominated by the coaches, and the Player of the Week is voted on by a committee. But of course we want your input.

So go ahead and tell us: Who would YOU choose for the award in Week One? Go to The Board and give us your two cents. Are any of the above mentioned the top candidates, or is someone else out there this week’s BlueStreak Sports Training Player of the Week?
